London Bitter “Beer Street” Crowned Britain’s Best Winter Beer for 2026
London has plenty of reasons to raise a pint right now. A local brew has just been crowned the best winter beer in Britain. The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) has named Beer Street by London Brewing Co its Champion Winter Beer of Britain 2026, putting it at the top of hundreds of entries from across the country.
If you love a pint with depth and character, you’ll want to get your hands on this one. CAMRA’s judges described Beer Street as a “sparkling golden amber bitter” with layers of spicy rye, roasted malt aroma, and a gently sweet biscuit flavour that finishes dry and smooth. In other words, it’s an easy-drinking winter winner.
London Brewing Co. started out in 2011 at The Bull in Highgate before moving to The Bohemia in North Finchley in 2014, where it continues to brew a range of standout beers. The team describes Beer Street as a balanced bitter with notes of toffee, dried fruit, dark chocolate, and a hint of nutty rye, a combination that clearly hit the sweet spot for the judges.
The silver medal went north to Scotland’s Cairngorm Brewery for its stout Black Gold, while bronze was snapped up by Green Jack Brewery for its Baltic Trader Export Stout, a hefty 10.5% ABV powerhouse.
From rich porters to strong ales and complex barley wines, every style had its champion at the winter finals, but Beer Street came out on top. And the real excitement isn’t over yet: all the category winners, including London Brewing Co., will face off for the ultimate title of Supreme Champion Beer of Britain 2026 at the CAMRA Cambridge Beer Festival this May.
Cheers to that, London. 🍻
